National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.16% in October

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), registered a change of 0.16% in October, staying 0.11 percentage points below the 0.27% rate of September. This was one of the lowest rates seen in the year, staying just above the index recorded in the month of April, 0.15%. The last twelve months stood at 3.75%, a result below the 4.25% recorded in the twelve previous months. In October 2016, the index was significantly higher, 0.64%. The national cost of construction, per square meter, which in September closed at R$1,057.99, in October rose to R$1.059,68. Of this figure, R$540.58 were relative to material, while R$519.10 referred to labor force.
The share of materials presented a change of 0,20%, falling 0.25 percentage points in relation to the previous month's rate (0.45%). The change of the share f labor force was f 0.12%, a slightly superior index than last month's (0.08%), however, differently from the month of October 2016, when the rate had a high of 1,23%, due to wage increases in the states of Pará, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo.
From January to October this year, the cumulative indexes were of 1.78% (material) and 4.65% (labor force), but over the last twelve months, they were 1.73% (material) and 6.00% (labor force).
Central-West Region records highest monthly change
With a high in the share of materials in 3 states, and with the change occurred in the labor force in the state of Goiás, as a consequence of the salary increase from a collective agreement, the Central-West Region presented the greatest regional change in October (0.96%). The lowest rate stood with the Southeast Region (0.01%), which presented negative indexes for the share of materials in Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo.
In the other regions the results were: 0.27% (North), 0.09% (Northeast) and 0.10% (South).
The costs by region, per square meter, went to: R$ 1.062,53 (North); R$ 983,76 (Northeast); R$ 1.104,90 (Southeast); R$ 1.101,80 (South) and R$ 1.071,77 (Central-West).
Goiás boosts
Due to the pressure exerted by the salary increase from a collective agreement and the rise in the share of materials, Goiás, with 2.47%, was the state with the highest monthly change. Next comes Roraima, with 1.35%, also under the influence of the increase defined in the collective convention.
