National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.46% in April

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), calculated by the IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, changed 0.46% in April, standing 0.36 percentage points below the March rate (0.82%). The rate stayed at 7.14% in the last 12 months, close to the result of 7.18% registered in the immediately previous 12 months. The index was 0.50% in April 2015. Having closed March at R$984.81, the national cost of construction per square meter rose to R$ 989.37, being R$526.78 relative to materials and R$462.59 to labor force.
The share relative to materials changed 0.27%, standing 0.08 percentage points below the March rate (0.35%). The share relative to labor force changed 0.69%, dropping 0.66 percentage points in relation to the previous month (1.35%). Between January and April, the rates stayed at 2.07% (materials) and 3.40% (labor force) and the cumulative indexes in 12 months stayed at 4.88% (materials) and 9.80% (labor force).
Northeast Region records biggest monthly change
Having recorded 1.30%, the Northeast Region posted the biggest regional change in April. The other regions registered the following figures: 0.14% (North), 0.00% (Southeast), 0.23% (South) and 0.47% (Central-West).
The regional costs per square meter were: R$1,010.81 (North); R$924.25 (Northeast); R$1,026.93 (Southeast); R$1,020.59 (South) and R$993.31 (Central-West).
Bahia records the highest rise
Bahia reported the biggest monthly change (3.34%), due to the pressure exerted by salary adjustments from collective work agreements, followed by Paraíba (3.27%) and Sergipe (3.13%), also pressed by salary adjustments.
