National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.58% in July

The National Index of Civil Construction - SINAPI changed 0.58% in July. This was the highest rate in 2017, standing 0.20 percentage points above the rate of 0.38% in June. The result of the last 12 months stayed at 4.25%, above the rate of 3.86% recorded in the immediately previous 12 months. In July 2016, the index was 0.20%.

Having closed at R$1,046.68 in June, the national cost of construction rose to R$1,052.75 in July, being R$537.78 relative to materials and R$514.97, to labor force.
Unlike July 2016, when the share relative to materials changed negatively (-0.11%), it began the second semester of this year with a rise (0.28%). In relation to the previous month, the share relative to materials increased 0.27%, against a stable rate in June (0.01%). As a number of states provided salary adjustments, the share relative to labor force rose to 0.90%, a rate above that in the previous month (0.78%) From January to July, the cumulative figures were: 1.25% (materials) and 3.82% (labor force), whereas, in 12 months, they were: 1.86% (materials) and 6.91% (labor force).
South Region records the highest monthly change
As a consequence of salary adjustments due to collective work agreements, the changes registered in labor force in the states of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul caused the South Region to record the highest regional change in July (1.33%). The North Region posted the lowest change (-0.18%), showing negative rates for both materials and labor force: -0.29% and -0.05%, respectively. The results in the other regions were: 0.12% (Northeast), 0.92% (Southeast) and 0.23% (Central-West).
The regional costs, by square meter, were: R$ 1,053.04 (North); R$ 973.50 (Northeast); R$ 1,103.17 (Southeast); R$ 1,097.55 (South) and R$ 1,053.77 (Central-West).
Rio de Janeiro records highest rise
Having posted 3.03%, Rio de Janeiro was the state with the highest monthly change, due to the share relative to labor force (4.47%) – as a consequence of salary adjustments due to collective work agreements –, as well as to the share relative to materials (1.41%). Rio de Janeiro was followed by Mato Grosso do Sul and Rio Grande do Sul (2.14% and 1.85%, respectively), both of them also under the impact of adjustments due to collective agreements. Paraná, Alagoas, Tocantins, Espírito Santo and Maranhão also reported salary adjustments as a result of collective agreements.
