IBGE released today, November 27, 2014, the maps of the state of Tocantins with a scale of 1:100,000 (1cm = 1 km) in digital format. The maps are a cartographic representation consisting of a mosaic of ortho-rectified satellite images, including marginal information and geographic names, in accordance with the maps of the Systematic Terrestrial Mapping. This product is provided with the geometric properties of a topographic map. The files are available in PDF format on link ftp://geoftp.ibge.gov.br/imagens_do_territorio/imagens_corrigidas/cartas_imagem/bc100//.
The maps provide an up-to-date view of the territory, consistent with the representation requirements of this scale, as well as the geographic elements of higher relevance. Due to the simplified nature of this product, the information is made available quicker than the production of a complete topographic map.
The state of Tocantins will require 127 satellite images, comprising the 1:100,000 Cartographic Base project (BC100). The 30 satellite images made available covered 23% of the area being studied.
The maps were produced from the images of the AVNIR-2 sensor, provided with a 10-meter spatial resolution, and were acquired between 2006 and 2010 (91% of them between 2009 and 2010). The ortho-rectification process aimed at geo-referencing, correcting the distortion of the images and assuring the precision required by this project.
