National Index of Civil Construction changes by 0.30% in October

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), estimated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, registered a change of 0.30% in October, 0.14 percentage points above September's rate (0.16%). Considering the period from January to October, the result was of 5.30%. The result of the last 12 months was of 6.66%, below the 6.82% recorded in the 12 months prior to that period. These cumulative results take into account the exemption of the payroll of enterprises of the civil construction sector pursuant to law 12.844, enacted on July 19 f 2013. When the exemption is not taken into consideration, the cumulative over a year stands at 5.36% and over the last twelve months, at 6.73%. From January to October this year, the cumulative indexes of material and labor force are 4.42% and 6.36%, respectively. In 12 months, the cumulative indexes were 5.74% (materials) and 7.76% (labor force).
The national cost of construction per square meter, which in September closed at R$ 902.94, in October changed to R$ 905.65: R$ 495.29 relative to materials and R$ 410.36 to labor force.
The share of materials registered a change of 0.46%, up 0.26 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.20%); while labor force, with a change of 0.10%, fell 0.01 percentage points in relation to September (0.11%). From January to October this year, the cumulative indexes are 4.47% (materials) and 6.31% (labor force), while, in 12 months, they were 5.77% (materials) and 7.76% (labor force).
North Region records the highest change
With a change of 1.55%, the North Region registered the biggest high in October. The other results were: 0.20% (Northeast), 0.21% (Southeast), 0.28% (South), and -0.17% (Central-West).
The costs by area, per square meter, were: R$ 920.77 (North); R$ 840.30 (Northeast), R$ 946.94 (Southeast); R$ 920.90 (South) e R$ 922.72 (Central-West).
Roraima records the highest increase
Due to the pressure from salary increases following a collective work agreement, Roraima registered the highest monthly rate in October, with a rate of 4.14%, followed by Pará, which recorded a rise of 2.94%.
These results are monthly estimated by IBGE through a partnership with CAIXA – Caixa Econômica Federal, based on SINAPI – National Survey of Costs and Index of Civil Construction.
SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and evaluate budgets as well as monitor costs.
