National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.46% in April

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), estimated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, posted a change of 0.46% in April, staying 0.16 percentage points above March's rate (0.62%). Considering the period from January to April, the result was of 1.99%, while in the same period of 2013 it was at 1.79%. The result of the last 12 months was of 0.71%, below the 0.94% recorded in the prior 12 month-period. In April 2013, the rate was at 0.69%.

These cumulative results reflect the exemption in the payroll of the enterprises of the civil construction sector, according to law no 12,844, enacted on July 19, 2013. When the exemption is not taken into account, the cumulative index in the year stands at 1.93% and in the last 12 months, at 7.60%.

The national cost of construction per square meter, which in March was R$ 873.20, in April changed to R$ 877.19, out of which R$ 487.48 are relative to materials and R$ 389.71, to labor force. If the exemption in the payroll is not considered, the national cost of construction per square meter, closed in April at R$ 937.15, R$ 487.72 relative to materials and R$ 449,43 to labor force.

The share of materials registered a change of 0.38%, contracting 0.71 percentage points in relation to the previous month (1.09%); while labor force, with a change of 0.55%, increased 0.52 percentage points in relation to March (0.03%). In the first four months of the year, the cumulative indexes are 2.82% (materials) and 0.96% (labor force), while, in 12 months, they were 6.44% (materials) and -5.64% (labor force). Likewise, these results reflect the exemption in the payroll. When the exemption is not taken into account, the cumulative index in the last 12 months were: 6.50% (materials) and 8.82% (labor force).

Northeast Region records the highest change in April

With changes of 2.69% (Bahia) and 1.02% (Pernambuco), the Northeast Region, with a rate of 1.04%, was the region with the highest monthly change in April. The other results were: 0.03% (North), 0.18% (Northeast), 0.43% (Southeast) and 0.24% (Central-West).

The costs by area, per square meter, were: R$ 889.74 (North); R$ 826.76 (Northeast); R$ 912.44 (Southeast); R$ 886.85 (South) and R$ 878.69 (Central-West).

The Northeast Region also registered the highest change of the last 12 months,  reaching 0.94%, and the highest cumulative change in the year, 2.53%.

 

These results are monthly estimated by IBGE through a partnership with CAIXA – Caixa Econômica Federal, based on SINAPI – National Survey of Costs and Index of Civil Construction.

SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and evaluate budgets as well as monitor costs.
