The stock network of agricultural products in the country posted a drop of 0.2% in the number of active establishments, in comparison with the first semester of 2011. In the end of the second semester of 2011, this network comprised 9,324 active establishments, of which 45.3% were in the South region, 22.4% in the Southeast region, 21.1% in Central-West, 7.9% in Northeast and 3.3% in the North region.

Installed capacity in the country rose 0.3% in the 2nd semester of 2011

 

The available capacity of conventional, temporary and inflatable warehouses amounted to 73,941,768 cubic meters, and, a little more than 70% out of this amount was concentrated in the Southeast and South.

 

Automated and bulk warehouses amounted to 57,292,482 metric tons of available capacity; the Central West Region held 49.8% of this figure and the South, 32.8%.

 

Grain silos recorded 55,670,492 metric tons of available capacity in the country, with the South Region accounting for 56.4% of this total and the Central West and Southeast, for 25.0% and 13.8%, respectively.

 

Available capacity results, when compared to those of the first semester of 2011, recorded decrease of 4.0% among conventional, temporary and inflatable warehouses, and increase of 4.4% among silos.  The available capacity of automated and bulk warehouses remained stable.  The total available capacity in the country increased 0.3%, having changed from 156.8 million to 157.3 million metric tons.

 

Stocks of rice and soybeans grow compared with stocks of Dec 31/2010

 

The biggest stocks obtained on Dec 31, 2011 were those of grain corn (5,336,253 t), wheat in grain (5,277,299 t), soybeans (4,912,187 t), paddy rice (3,101,131 t) and coffee beans (1,023,375 t).

 

Compared with existing amounts n Dec 31, 2010, the stocks of rice and soybeans presented positive changes (22.3% and 16.5%, respectively), whereas those of coffee, wheat and corn recorded decreases of 4.9%, 12.4% and 32.3%, respectively.
