The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), estimated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, recorded a change of 0.64% in April, up 0.33 percentage points in relation to March (0.31%). Compared with April 2011 (0.48%), the difference was of 0.16 percentage points. Considering the first four months of the year, the index was 1.87%, higher than the same period in the previous year (1.67%). The result of the last twelve months was 5.86%, below the 7.00% registered in April 2011, and above the 5.70% recorded in March 2012. The complete publication of the survey can be accessed at:

The national cost of construction per square meter, which in March was R$ 819.53, in April changed to R$ 824.81, R$ 446.25 relative to materials and R$ 378.56 to labor force.

 

The share of materials registered a change of -0.04%, contracting 0.10 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.06%), while labor force, with a change of 1.46%, increased 0.83 percentage points in relation to March (0.63%). The accumulated indexes in twelve months were: 11.54% (labor force) and 1.47% (materials).

 

Southeast region records the highest monthly change: 0.92%

 

The Southeast region, with a high of 0.92%, recorded the highest regional change in April. The remaining results were: 0.79% (Northeast); 0.27% (South); 0.09% (North) and 0.06% (Central-West).

 

The regional costs, per square meter, were: R$ 863.23 (Southeast); R$ 834.27 (North); R$ 819.23 (Central-West); R$ 814.76 (South) and R$ 781.43 (Northeast).

 

Rio de Janeiro records the highest increase: 4.33%

 

Due to the pressure from salary increases following a collective work agreement, Rio de Janeiro registered the highest monthly rate, 4.33%.
