IBGE releases five new physical maps of the State Series today, June 6.

They portray the states of Pernambuco, Rondônia, São Paulo, Paraná and Maranhão. The release will be at 2 p.m. in the IBGE’s State Unit in Recife (PE). The address is Praça Ministro João Gonçalves de Souza, with no number, Engenho do Meio.

 

The maps approach political and physical themes. As to the former, it brings information on the division of the territory, portraying the municipal limits. As for the latter, it brings information on the relief. Other Federation Units will also gain new maps or updated existing maps in the second quarter: Acre, Bahia, Mato Grosso do Sul, Santa Catarina and Tocantins. In addition to the five new maps, the link ftp://geoftp.ibge.gov.br/mapas/tematicos/fisico/ allows for access to the representations of Acre, Amazonas, Amapá, Ceará, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Paraíba, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Roraima, Santa Catarina and Tocantins.

 

With those maps, schools will be able to identify the relief of their states, the highest peaks and the nomenclature of hills and mountain chains, obtaining a more detailed knowledge of the territory.
