The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), estimated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, started 2011 with a change almost equal to the one recorded in December of 2010 (0.26%), advancing only 0.01 percentage points .
The national cost of construction per square meter, which in December was R$ 769.06, changed to R$ 768.44 in January, R$ 436.29 relative to materials and R$ 332.15 to labor force.
The share of materials registered a change of 0.32%, contracting 0.11 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.43%), while labor force registered an acceleration of 0.15 percentage points, changing from 0.05% in December to 0.20% in January.
Those results were estimated based on a new weighing structure as to the geographic areas.
Northeast region was a highlight in January
Pressured by the salary increases of Piauí, the Northeast Region, with a high of 0.46%, recorded the highest regional rate in January. The remaining results were: 0.37% (North); 0.21% (Central-West); 0.16% (Southeast) and 0.14% (South).
The regional costs, per square meter, were:
R$ 809.06 (Southeast); R$ 779.58 (North); R$ 755.14 (Central-West); R$ 752.44 (South) and R$ 726.65 (Northeast).
Piauí and Tocantins recorded the highest increases
Due to the salary increases following collective work agreement, Piauí and Tocantins registered the highest monthly rates, respectively, 4.19% and 3.00%.
The states with the lowest changes were: Mato Grosso (0.04%); Alagoas (0.08%); Roraima, Amapá and Rio Grande do Sul, all with a rate of 0.09%
