National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.35% in September

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), estimated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, closed September at 0.35%, next to the rate of August (0.31%) and registering an acceleration of 0.04 percentage points. This index was also superior to the one in September of 2009 (0.20%). The accumulated indicator between January and September was 5.80%, higher than the index of 4.58% observed in the same period of 2009. In the last twelve months, the change rate was 7.08%, higher than the one of 6.92% recorded in the twelve immediately previous months.

The national construction cost, by square meter, advanced from R$ 755.21 (August) to R$ 757.86 (September); R$ 428.07 relative to materials and R$ 329.79 to labor force.

The share of materials rose 0.41%, a little higher than the rate of August (0.39%). The share of labor force recorded a change of 0.27% in contrast with 0.21% of August.

Between January and September, the accumulated index of materials was 3.74%, higher than the rate of 3.18% of the same period of the last year, and labor force, with a rate of 8.59%, also registered a higher result than the one of the same period of 2009 (6.55%). In the last twelve months, materials recorded a change of 4.86%, whereas labor force reached 10.10%.

North Region was the highlight in September

As in August, the highest regional rate was the one of North (1.78%), mainly due to the salary increases in Roraima and Pará. The Midwest Region recorded the smallest monthly change (0.16%), practically the same as the one in the South (0.17%). The other regional indexes were 0.21% in the Northeast and 0.25% in the Southeast.

In Midwest, the highest accumulated index of the year was registered (8.29%), whereas the North had the highest rate in the last twelve months (9.77%). The lowest accumulated index of the year was 5.22%, in the Southeast, and the lowest accumulated index in the last twelve months was 6.04%, in the South.

The regional costs, by square meter, were: R$ 798.44 (Southeast); R$ 770.99 (North); R$ 741.81 (South); R$ 741.41 (Midwest) and R$ 707.24 (Northeast).

Pará and Roraima recorded the highest increases

In September, due to the salary increases resulted from collective agreement, Pará (3.93%) and Roraima (2.30%) presented the highest increases in their rates. Mato Grosso do Sul (0.04%) had the smallest change in the month, followed by the states of Acre, Mato Grosso and Federal District, all with the rate of 0.10%.

The lowest accumulated indexes in the year were: 1.50% (Pernambuco) and 2.39% (Rio Grande do Norte). Pernambuco (5.03%) and Rio Grande do Sul (5.10%) recorded the lowest accumulated indexes in the last 12 months.
