IPCA-15 of November is 0.44%

The result was higher than the index of October (0.18%), accumulating 3.79% in the year and 4.09% in the last 12 months.

 

The Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA-15) of November was 0.44%, much above the 0.18% of October (0.26 percentage point higher). Even with the rise of the month, the accumulated result in the year, which was 3.79%, was quite below the 5.79% of the same period of the previous year. For the last 12 months, the rate was 4.09%, little below the immediately12 months (4.14%). In November 2008, IPCA-15 had been 0.49%.

 

Most groups of products and services that are part of family expenses increased from October to November:

After the fall of 0.25% in October, food products began to increase again, changing to 0.39% in November. Tomatoes led the rise with an increase of 26.99%, followed by gasoline, which was 1.36% more expensive. In the month, two items contributed individually with 0.06 percentage point each.

Among food products, the consumer will be paying more, principally, for onions (19.05%), potatoes (9.63%), refined sugar (4.51%), soybean oil (3.74%) and meats (1.07%).

 

The rise of gasoline (1.3%) was due to the impact of the increased price of a liter of alcohol, which became 9.13% more expensive. Besides, influencing the group Transportation (from 0.18% in October to 0.95% in November), new cars had their prices increased by 1.11%, whereas plane tickets had a rise of 18.03%.

 

Besides transportations, increases occurred in household articles (from 0.03% to 0.53%), apparel (from 0.51% to 0.63%) and personal expenses (from 0.29% to 0.36%). Consequently, the group non-food products changed from 0.31% to 0.45%.

 

Regarding regional indexes, the highest result was obtained in Brasília (0.71%), influenced by rises in the groups Food products and Beverages (0.79%), Apparel (1.11%) and Transportation (1.69%). The lowest result was recorded in Belém, where food products increased by 0.31%, and Transportation, by 0.26%.

IPCA-15 refers to prices collected from October 14 to November 13, comparing them with those collected between September 15 and October 13.
