National Index of Construction increased by 0.44% in January

The National Index of Construction (Sinapi), calculated by the IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, began the year of 2008 with a change of 0.44%, decreasing 0.32 percentage points in relation to December 2007 (0.76%). In 12 months, the index accumulated was 6.26%.

In relation to January 2007 (0.27%), the present index was 0.17 percentage points higher.  The index accumulated in 12 months (6.26%), also was higher than the one registered in January 2007 (4.96%). 

The national cost per square meter increased from R$ 605.71 (in December) to R$ 608.38 in January, being R$ 350.07 relative to material and R$ 258.31 to labor force.

In January, the evolution of material (0.67%) was slightly above the value registered in the previous month (0.63%).  Labor force had a significant decrease (0.81 percentage points), changing from 0.94% (December) to 0.13% (January).  In the last twelve months, material accumulated 5.64% compared to 7.12% of labor force.

The major regional index in January was registered in the North Region

The North Region had the major hike in January (0.69%), followed by the Southeast Region (0.48%) and Northeast Region (0.45%).  The Central West Region (0.35%) and the South Region (0.24%) had results below the national index (0.44%).

The highest accumulated indexes in the last 12 months were registered in the North and Northeast Regions (7.33%) and Central West Region (6.88%).  The other results were below the national indicator: Southeast Region (5.73%) and South Region (5.05%).

In relation to the regional costs, the values were: R$ 645.01 (Southeast); R$ 599.62 (North); R$ 597.33 (South); R$ 581.62 (Central West) and R$ 571.46 (Northeast).

 

Among the states, the highest index was registered in Amapá

With change of 2.52%, Amapá registered the major hike in January, as a consequence of wage readjustments.  Paraíba, due to the same reason, recorded a significant hike of 2.26%, registering also the major accumulated indicator in the last twelve months (9.97%).
