National Construction Index changes by 0.48% in November

The National Construction Index, calculated by IBGE in partnership with Caixa Econômica Federal, changed by 0.48% in November, and was 005 percentage points above the result of October (0.43%). The indexes accumulated in the year and in the last twelve months were 5.28% and 5.75%, respectively.
In relation to November 2006 (0.35%), the currently index was 0.13 percentage points higher. The figures accumulated in 2007 (in the year and in the last twelve months) were also above the rates observed in similar periods last year (4.66% and 5.17%).
The national cost by square meter rose from R$ 598.27 (in October) to R$ 601.15, in November, being R$ 345.56 relative to material and R$ 255.59 relative to manpower.
Material rose by 0.46%, that is, it was below the October index (0.59%). Manpower, with 0.51%, rose by 0.29 percentage points when compared to the October result (0.22%).
In the year, material changed by 4.59%, a result above that of the same period of 2006 (3.74%). In terms of manpower, the percentage was 6.22%, also above the index obtained last year. In the last twelve months, the indexes were 4.98% (material) and 6.82% (manpower).
Central West Region had the highest index by area, in November
The Central West Region had the highest index in November (0.69%), followed by the Northeast (0.66%) and North (0.65%) Regions. The remaining results were below the national index: Southeast (0.37%) and South (0.26%).
The highest indexes accumulated in the year and in the last twelve months were those of the Northeast Region (6.89% and 7.30%, respectively). The lowest results were those of the Southeast (4.20% in the year) and South (4.53% in 12 months).
In relation to the regional costs, the values were the following: R$ 634.85 (Southeast); R$ 593.40 (South); R$ 590.43 (North); R$ 577.96 (Central West) and R$ 566.19 (Northeast).
Among the states, Rio Grande do Norte had the highest index
With change of 2.86%, Rio Grande do Norte had the highest hike in November, due to salary readjustments.
In the year, Acre had the most significant accumulated hike (8.77%) and, in twelve months, Amapá did (9.42%).
