IPCA-15 in November is 0.23%

The Extended National Consumer Price Index-15 (IPCA-15) of November is 0.23%, a result close to the October rate (0.24%). With this result, the indexes accumulated in the year and in the last 12 months are 3.64% and 4.00%, respectively.  IPCA-15 refers to prices collected from October 12 to November 11, which are compared to those in effect between September 12 and October 11.

 

Food products have changed by 0.25%, 0.25%, less than half of the October result (0.54%), because some important products to the family budget had lower increases from one month to the other, or even fall of prices. The price of rice, for instance, changed from 3.02% in October, to 0.91%, in November. Onions changed from 8.42% to 1.83%, and soybean oil, from 3.42% to 0.92%.

 

Pasteurized milk became 12.05% cheaper in November, in comparison with the previous month, and the contribution of this item reached -0.15 percentage points. However, even considering the fall by -10.20% in October, the rise of pasteurized milk accumulated in the year has risen 20.44% in the year.

 

On the other hand, some food products are now more expensive. The highlights were black beans (from 9.09% in October, to 10.74% in November), “carioca” beans (from 8.41% to 21.08%) and potatoes (from 2.19% to 17.92%), besides meats, which changed from 0.93% in October, to 3.01% in November and became the most relevant item in terms of contribution to the November IPCA-15, with 0.05 percentage points.    

 

Among non-food products, which changed by 0.22%, more than in October (0.16%), prices of several products have risen. Gasoline, which had fallen by 0.32% in the previous month, rose by 0.35% in November; this product became 3.27% more expensive in Porto Alegre and 5.60% more expensive in Goiânia.

 

Apparel items were also highlights, having increased 0.74% in November, versus 0.41% of October. Besides that, medicines got 0.39% more expensive, influenced by Belém (1.71%), Curitiba (1.28%) and São Paulo (0.99%). In October, medicines had risen by 0.25%. 

 

Among the regional indexes, the main highlights were those in Goiânia (0.73%) and Belém (0.70%). In Goiânia, the rise of fuels reached 5.72%, whereas, in Belém, food products rose by 1.69%. The lowest results were those of Salvador (0.05%), São Paulo (0.06%) and Curitiba (0.06%).
