From October to November, industrial production showed expansion in 9 among 14 surveyed localities, in the series without seasonal influence.  In the comparison November 06/ November 05, the regional indexes had generalized hike, reaching all the localities, with the exception of Rio de Janeiro (-0.4%).  In the indicator accumulated from January-November, compared to the same period of 2005, there was growth in 11 localities.

In the comparison with October, Pará (3.8%), Paraná (3.1%), Minas Gerais (2.7%) and Amazonas (2.2%) had the most pronounced increases. Goiás (1.7%), Rio Grande do Sul (1.6%), Espírito Santo (1.4%) and Bahia (0.9%) also had growth above the national average (0.8%).  Among the five localities which registered decrease in the production, the main result was from São Paulo, which after growing 1.6% in October, decreased once again in November (-1.0%).

In the comparison November 06/ November 05, among the 13 localities with expansion, Pará (17.3%) and Espírito Santo (10.8%) answered for the only two digit rates, supported mainly in mining and quarrying.  Paraná (8.3%), Minas Gerais (7.4%), Goiás (6.7%), Ceará (6.0%) and Bahia (4.8%) completed the localities which increased above the national average (4.2%).  The other positive results were observed in the Northeast Region (4.0%), Pernambuco (3.5%), São Paulo (3.0%), Rio Grande do Sul (1.8%), Amazonas (0.6%) and Santa Catarina (0.1%).

In the indicator accumulated for January-November, compared to the same period of 2005, there was expansion in 11 among 14 surveyed localities.  In this index, the leadership of regional performance, in terms of magnitude of growth, was observed in Pará (14.8%), supported, mainly, by the major dynamism of typically exporting products (iron ore and aluminum oxide).  With rates above the national average (3.1%) could be observed Ceará (8.5%), Espírito Santo (7.4%), Pernambuco (5.1%), Minas Gerais (4.4%), Bahia (4.3%), Northeast Region (4.0%) and São Paulo (3.6%).  In these localities, it could be confirmed the standard of growth observed for the total of the Brazilian industry during the last year, once the industrial structure in these states has a strong presence of typically exporting products, particularly commodities, besides producing segments of durable consumer goods (automobiles and household appliances) and capital goods (especially of computer science and electrical equipment segments). The other localities with positive results were Goiás (2.6%), Rio de Janeiro (2.1%) and Santa Catarina (0.4%).  On the other hand, accumulating losses in the production compared to same period of 2005, were Paraná (-1.9%), Rio Grande do Sul (-2.2%) and Amazonas (-2.3%).

Similarly to the trend observed in the national industry, which increases in a slight way (0.2%) between the quarters closed in October and November, the index of quarterly moving average shows the prevailing (9) of localities which indicated positive result in this comparison, especially for the industry of Espírito Santo (3.2%).  For eight months, still according to this indicator, the national industrial production shows increase compared to the previous month, accumulating expansion of 2.0% in the quarters closed in November and March.     Regionally, 10 among 14 surveyed localities also registered increase in this period, with Espírito Santo (8.6%) and  Pará (8,3%) leading this trend, while Amazonas (-10.2%) has the most significant loss.

The monthly index increased by 0.6% due, mainly, to the expansion observed in 5 among 11 surveyed activities.  The main highlights, which contributed positively for the formation of the overall index, were machines and equipment (60.4%), metal products (53.1%) and other transportation equipment (16.9%). Nevertheless, due to negative influences of petroleum refining and alcohol production (-71.0%), electronic material and communication equipment (-7.6%) and chemical products (-28.3%), the general result was 0.6%.  The atypical decrease of petroleum refining and alcohol production occurred due to programmed shutdowns for maintenance in the producing units.

In the indicator accumulated in the year, compared to the same period of 2005, the industry of the state fell by 2.3% showing, mainly, the reduction observed in 5 among 12 sectors. Electronic material and communication equipment, with fall of 11.5%, led the negative results on the overall index, influenced mainly, by the diminishment in the manufacturing of mobile telephones and radios. Also, it should be observed the negative performance of chemical products (-31.3%) and of petroleum refining and alcohol production (-18.4%).  On the other hand, other transportation equipment (15.4%), metal products (29.6%) and edition and printing (33.8%) brought the major positive results.
