National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.49% in December

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), calculated by the IBGE, changed by 0.49% in December, with increase of 0.39 percentage points versus the November rate (0.10%). As a result, 2016 closed at 6.64%. In December 2015, the index was 0.06%.

The national cost of construction, by square meter, which closed November at R$ 1,022.26, changed to R$ 1,027.30 in December, being R$ 531.21 relative to material and R$ 496.09 to workforce.

The share relative to labor force registered a change of 0.01%, 0.07 percentage points above the figure in the previous month (-0.06%). The share relative to labor force registered a change of 1.02%, 0.75 percentage points above the November result (0.27%).

The year 2016 brought a change of 2.92% in material, whereas the total costs related to workforce hit 10.89%. The share relative to materials closed 2015 at 3.78% and that relative to labor force, at 7.55%.

South Region records highest monhly change, and the Southeast, the highest cumulative result in 2016

In December, the South Region was a highlight for recording the highest monthly change in costs, 2.09%. Other December rates were: 0,21% (North), 0,31% (Northeast), 0.18% (Southeast) and 0.46% (Central-West Region).

The Southeast Region recorded the main hike in the year, with 7.20%, and 2.25 percentage points above the figure in 2015, 4.95%. See the result by Major Region in the table below:

As for construction costs, the figure by square meter, in December, were: R$ 1,038.92 (North); R$ 948.71 (Northeast); R$ 1,0730.62 (Southeast); R$ 1,067.70 (South) and R$ 1,037.84 (Central-West).

Paraná records biggest increase in December and Piauí the highest cumulative result for 2016

Due to the pressure exerted by salary rises resulting from collective agreements, Paraná recorded the highest monthly rate (4.48%), with increase of the average costs per square meter to R$1,056.92. Also influenced by the salary adjustment, Piauí recorded a rate of 3.10%, followed by Rio Grande do Norte and the Federal District, 2.22%.

In relation to the cumulative result in 2016, the state of Piauí recorded the highest rate, 9.20%.
