The IBGE and the Superior Electoral Court - TSE launch today, September 1, 2016, in Brasília, the information leaflet 'Your Municipality in Figures 2016'. They are paper and digital leaflets bringing relevant data on the 5,570 Brazilian municipalities, aiming at supporting candidates, voters and opinion leaders in the October elections.

The IBGE and the TSE aims at providing citizens with more knowledge on the reality in order to enrich the pre-electoral debates, which are usually based on the promises of the candidates.

The announcement of this product will count with the presence of the President of the TSE, Minister Gilmar Mendes, and the President of the IBGE, Paulo Rabello de Castro. It will be held at 11am at the TSE headquarters in Brasília (Setor de Administração Federal Sul - SAFS, block 7, lots 1/2).

The leaflets bring information from the IBGE and other official sources (Ministries of Health, Education, TSE, etc.) on the profile of the population and households, health, education and the Human Development Index - HDI, produced by the United Nations Development Program - UNDP.

This product focuses on subjects under the municipal responsibility, like the final destination of garbage, which directly affect the population, like access to daycare, preschool and primary education, infant mortality and dengue cases, among others.

Time series are available whenever possible, allowing to follow up the indicators over time, as well as to compare the situation of the municipality with its state and with the country.

The responsibilities of mayors and councilmen are also explained, as well as the number of voters by age group for every municipality.

About 1.1 million leaflets have been printed and will be distributed along the national territory through the 584 IBGE branches. They will be given to the candidates, city halls and city councils, as well as to the local media and civil society associations and organizations.

Digital versions will be sent by email to all the candidates of the TSE database. The digital leaflet will also be available for consultation and download at the IBGE web portal on the Cidades@(http://www.cidades.ibge.gov.br/xtras/home.php?lang=_EN) channel, which is already linked to the TSE´System of Dissemination of Candidatures and Electoral Accounts (www.tse.jus.br/eleicoes/eleicoes-2016/divulgacao-de-candidaturas-e-contas-eleitorais).
