National Index of Civil Construction changes 0.20% in July

The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), calculated by the IBGE, changed 0.20% in July, being 0.82 percentage points below the June rate (1.02%). The cumulative index in the last 12 months was 6.47%, below the figure of 6.99% recorded in the immediately previous 12 months. The index was 0.69% in July 2015. Having closed June at R$1,007.75, the national cost of construction per square meter rose to R$1,009.76 in July, being R$527.97 relative to materials and R$481.79 relative to labor force.
Having increased in June (0.16%), the materials parcel dropped 0.11%. Having declined 1.43 percentage points in relation to the previous month (1.97%), the parcel of labor force rose 0.54%. From January up to June 2016, the cumulative indexes were 2.30% (material) and 7.68% (labor force), and the cumulative rates in 12 months were 3.56% (material) and 9.83% (labor force).
Northeast Region records biggest monthly change
The Northeast (0.48%) registered the highest regional change in July and the other regions recorded the following figures: 0.06% (North), 0.06% (Southeast), 0.19% (South) and 0.03% (Central-West).
The regional costs per square meter were: R$1,017.74 (North); R$938.97 (Northeast); R$1,060.85 (Southeast); R$1,034.04 (South) and R$1,000.06 (Central-West).
Maranhão posts the highest rise
As a result of the pressure exerted by the salary adjustments due to collective work agreements, Maranhão registered the highest monthly change: 2.25%.
SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and evaluate budgets as well as monitor costs.
