In June, unemployment was at 6.9%

The unemployment rate in June (6.9%) was statistically stable in relation to May (6.7%) and increased 2.1 percentage points in relation to June last year (4.8%).
It was the highest rate in June since 2010 (7.0%).
The
unemployed population (1.7 million persons) was stable in relation to May and grew 44.9% (522 thousand persons more) versus that of June 2014.
The employed population (22.8 million) was unchanged in the month and decreased 1.3% (298 thousand persons less) in the year. The economically-inactive population (19.3 million persons) remained stable in both comparisons.
The number of
workers with a formal contract in the private sector (11.5 million) was unchanged in the month and contracted 2.0%(240 thousand persons less) in relation to June 2014.
The
average usual real earnings of the employed persons (R$ 2,149.10) fell 0.8% over May (R$ $2,132.58) and fell 2.9% compared to June 2014 (R$ 2,212.87).
The
average usual real wage bill (R$ 49.5 billion in June 2015) was stable in the month and dropped 4.3% in relation to June 2014.
The
average real actual wage bill of the employed persons (R$ 49.8 billion in MAY 2015) remained virtually stable in relation to April and decreased 3.8% in relation to May 2014.

In the month, the unemployment rate held steady in the six Metropolitan Areas

In regional terms, the monthly analysis showed that the unemployment rate did not change in any of the areas in relation to last May. But over June 2014, the rate grew in all the areas: in Recife, it went from 6.2% to 8.8% (+2.6 pp); in Salvador, from 9.0% to 11.4% (+2.4 pp); in São Paulo from 5.1% to 7.2% (+2.1 pp); in Porto Alegre, from 3.7% to 5.8% (+2.1 pp); in Rio de Janeiro, from 3.2% to 5.2% (+2.0 pp) and in Belo Horizonte, from 3.9% to 5.6% (+1.7 pp).

In the month, the average earnings rose in five of the six Metropolitan Areas

By areas, in relation to May, the real usual average earnings increased in Recife (2.2%); Belo Horizonte and Porto Alegre (1.1%, both); Rio de Janeiro (0.8%) and in São Paulo (0.7%). In Salvador there was decrease (-0.7%). In the year the earnings fell in four areas: Rio de Janeiro (-5.0%); Salvador and São Paulo (-3.1%, both) and Belo Horizonte (-2.5%), with highs in Recife (0.5%) and stability in Porto Alegre.

In the month, the average real usual earnings fell in two of the seven activity groups analyzed (Construction and Other services), grew in two (Trade and Services rendered to enterprises) and stayed stable in the others. In the year, all the seven groups fell (table below).

Conversely, among the categories of employment type, in the monthly comparison, the average real usual earnings went down for workers without a formal contract in the private sector and up for the military and civil servants and the self-employed, remaining stable among workers with a formal contract in the private sector. In the year, there was decrease in the four categories (table below).
