The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), calculated by IBGE in partnership with CAIXA, changed by 0.69% in July, being 0.04 percentage points below the July rate (0.73%). In the January-July period this year, the result was 3.86%. In the last twelve months, the rate was 5.77%, above the 5.66% registered in the previous 12 months. In July 2014, the index was 0.58%. The national cost of construction, per square meter, which, in June, closed at R$ 942.00, in July went to R$ 948.47: R$ 509.84 relative to material and R$ 438.63 to labor force.

The share relative to materials registered a change of 0.53%, increasing 0.11 percentage points in relation to the previous month (0.42%). Labor force registered a change of 0.87% and stood 0.21 percentage points lower than June (1.08%). The cumulative figures are: 2.52% (material) and 5.45% (labor force), whereas in twelve months, they were: 3.92% (material) and 7.97% (labor force), respectively.

The South Region registered the highest change in July

With a change of 1.24%, the South Region recorded the biggest change in July. The other figures were: 0.75% (North), 0.65% (Northeast), 0.43% (Southeast) and 1.08% (Central-West Region).

Regional costs, by square meter, were: R$ 950.03 (North); R$ 878.54 (Northeast), R$ 998.96 (Southeast); R$ 968.31 (South) and R$ 950.34 (Central-West Region).

Ceará was the state with the highest monthly change

Due to the pressure from salary increases following a collective work agreement, Ceará registered the highest monthly change: 3.26%. Next ,came the Federal District, 3.17%; Tocantins, 2.39%; and Rio Grande do Sul, 2.24%, also due to the impact of salary increases.

These results are monthly estimated by IBGE through a partnership with CAIXA – Caixa Econômica Federal, based on SINAPI – National System of Survey of Costs and Indexes of Civil Construction.

SINAPI, created in 1969, has the purpose of producing information on costs and indexes in a systematic way and with a national coverage, in order to elaborate and evaluate budgets as well as monitor costs.
