Annually released by the IBGE, Brazil in figures is a publication with information that provide a deeper discussion of important aspects of the Brazilian reality. With its compact size, the book can be used as a reference material and a base for analysis and planning in the several spheres of government and society. The data sources used were the surveys carried out by the IBGE, as well as data produced by the Central Bank of Brazil, regulating agencies and ministries.

By means of graphs and tables, the volume brings information on the national territory, demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the population, prices, national accounts, agricultural and industrial activities, trade and services, public finances, foreign trade, science and technology and basic Government statistics, besides comparative data of the Brazilian states. In order to provide the reader with a reflection of each topic addressed, the book is also enriched with articles of renowned professors, technicians and researchers.

Bringing together statistical information, knowledge and art, the 24th issue of Brazil in figures is illustrated with art pieces from the Pinacotheca of Rio Grande do Norte, localized in the historical center of the state. Creative diversity is one of the marks of the pinacotheca's asset, which gathers different expressions and styles, as naif paintings, woodcut, lithographs, sculptures and installations of important artists of the state and of the country.
