Corn grains boost

On December 31 2016, the greatest storage in the storage facilities was corn grains (8.4 million metric tons), despite the 16.7% drop in the storage volume in comparison to the same date last year. The reduction is related to the output decrease of the grain in 2016, mainly for corn grain 2nd crop, which accounted for 61.6% of the total output.

Soybean grain was the product with the highest percentage increase (97.4%), a total of 6.3 million metric tons. However, the volume represents quite little over the national output of soybeans, which was 95.7 million metric tons.

Wheat grain presented an increase of 20.8% in the stocks, favored by the crop of 6.7 million metric tons, which represents a growth of 22.0%.

Coffee had a growth of 17.0% in stocks, following the 15.0% growth in the output, which reached 3.0 million metric tons.

The stocks of paddy rice was of 1.4 million metric tons, representing a reduction of 24.1% in the comparison with December 31, 2015. The volume reflects the lower production reached by the culture due to harsh weather conditions that stroke the South Region, which concentrates 80.0% of the national output.
