Between May 12th and 15th, the IBGE will hold the National Meeting of Structural Economic Surveys (ENAPE), at the Palácio da Fazenda, in Rio de Janeiro downtown. The event, organized by the Coordination of Structural and Thematic Statistics in Enterprises (CESET), aims to promote the coordination of teams responsible for carrying out structural and thematic economic surveys.

The event had not taken place in person for three years. For CESET coordinator, Andrea Bastos Guimarães, the meeting is more than just training. “It is a moment, a strategic point for us to get together, increase team integration, strengthen commitment to this collective work, which is so important for the IBGE and for Brazil. So, we will align concepts and procedures during data collection, integrate the teams, see what best practices are being applied in some superintendencies to stimulate others, and share some successful experiences. The objective is to integrate, harmonize, make compatible, so that you guarantee higher quality surveys."

The monthly virtual meetings will continue. “We have working groups. A methodology group in which we discuss with the data collection network some problems that are occurring and align the procedures. Another working group for our annual economic survey system, a system created by the Directorate of Information Technology, which manages the entire data collection process, and we have discussed improvements with them. This year, we will also create a working group to improve the data collection management system,” added Guimarães.

CESET's Planning and Production Manager, Andressa Nascimento da Silva, explained the importance of the event. "This meeting was organized in a way that included a program that was interesting and important for supervision, both on topics that we need to revisit and also on others that are new. The week's schedule is related to technical issues and updates on the way of working, on the organization of some processes, presentation of the product and the planning of working groups within CESET, always encouraging integration and the exchange of experience between superintendencies, with the presentation of successful experiences in SESs.”

For the manager of Structural and Thematic Analysis, Fernanda de Vilhena, ENAPE will be fundamental to carry out PINTEC 2025. “Although the survey is carried out by CETAC (Coordination of the Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews Center), our area of surveys through telephone, we need the support of supervisors from state superintendencies to help us locate the ideal informants, those who hold the information of research, development and innovation in the industrial, services and energy companies that PINTEC covers,” explained her.

According to the IBGE´s Director of Surveys, Gustavo Junger, the face-to-face meeting is important. "We would like to have many more opportunities like this, but for budgetary reasons it has to be done sparingly, but this type of contact is essential to fine tune the relationship between the coordination of structural surveys and the superintendencies. This is a challenging year, so taking ENAPE is very relevant. It is the year we go to the field for PINTEC. The survey will soon be launched, an immense demand from society to learn about innovation in the Brazilian productive structure. So, having this opportunity for this meeting is essential for us to tune both for other structural surveys and also to provide this starting point for PINTEC.

Flavio Renato Keim, coordinator of Short-Term Statistics in Enterprises, spoke about the importance of the event. "Meeting with supervisors is always an opportunity to see old friends and also share knowledge and learning. We will present the 2026-2030 work plan, tell them a little about the work carried out within the coordination and make arrangements for progress throughout this period."
