The participation of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in the Alagoas Federative Caravan resulted in 320 public consultations over the two days of the event, with a high demand for data and information aimed at public management.

The IBGE stand received mayors, councilors, political leaders, public managers, representatives of institutions and civil society interested in accessing official statistics and learning about tools that assist in planning and formulating public policies.

Among the most requested information were socioeconomic indicators, territorial information, the Nomes do Brasil (Names of Brazil) tool and guidance on the use of the Institute's digital databases, such as the IBGE System of Automatic Retrieval (Sidra).

On the first day of activities at the Ruth Cardoso Cultural and Exhibition Center, in Maceió, the IBGE carried out 209 consultations, a number that was added to the 111 registrations this Friday (27), consolidating the final balance of IBGE's participation in the event.

Onélia Costa, leader of a social movement in Maceió, visited the IBGE stand during the Federative Caravan and was satisfied with the received assistance. “I am from the Benedito Bentes neighborhood and I sought information about the region and also about the Gypsy population. I thank Silvânia (IBGE civil servant) for the explanation. I was very well received at the stand,” she praised.

Caravan brings Federal Government closer to states and municipalities

The Federal Caravan is an initiative coordinated by the Secretariat of Institutional Relations of the Presidency of the Republic, with the objective of bringing the bodies of the Federal Government closer to states and municipalities, facilitating access to services, programs and public policies.

The official opening of the event in Alagoas took place on Thursday (26), bringing together State ministers, representatives of the federal and state governments and local authorities. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, who highlighted the interactive nature of the initiative, already carried out in several Brazilian states. The mobile model brings together ministries, autonomous agencies, and institutions in the same space, promoting direct service, technical guidance, and dialogue with public managers and representatives of society.

According to the superintendent of the IBGE in Alagoas (SES/AL), Alcides Tenorio Junior, the IBGE's participation in the event reinforces the Institute's role as a reference in data production for the country.

“The Caravan is an opportunity to bring the IBGE closer to managers and society, showing how our information can contribute to more efficient decisions and the development of municipalities,” highlighted Mr. Tenório.

Neison Freire, coordinator of the IBGE's Federative Caravan in Alagoas and head of the Information Dissemination Sector of the SES/AL, also emphasized the importance of direct public service during the event.

“The Caravan enabled an important exchange, not only in the presentation and sharing of information by the IBGE, but also in the networking with social leaders, representatives of civil society, and public managers. These connections are fundamental to expanding the dissemination of IBGE's surveys and strengthening the Institute's future actions,” stated Mr. Freire.
