The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) began, this Thursday (26), its participation in the Federative Caravan, in Maceió (AL), with direct assistance to political leaders, public managers and representatives of civil society. At the Institute's stand, civil servants provide face-to-face service, guiding the public on the various surveys produced by the IBGE and assisting in consulting statistical and geographic data. The aim is to offer closer and more personalized service, allowing each visitor to present their demands and receive specific guidance on IBGE information in different areas.

Among the visitors assisted was the superintendent of the Regulatory Agency for Public Services of the State of Alagoas (Arsal), Camilla Ferraz. “I made sure to visit the IBGE stand because access to data and statistics directly impacts the planning and execution of the agency's actions,” she emphasized. The manager added that she intends to maintain permanent contact with the IBGE, focusing on workshops and training offered by the Institute, especially those related to the use of the IBGE Automatic Data Retrieval System (Sidra), “to improve our data collection, using this information provided by the IBGE.”

In addition to individualized assistance, the stand features an interactive token that allows for real-time consultation of data and indicators. Visitors can access platforms such as Sidra and the Interactive Geographic Platform, as well as explore maps, tables, and other databases.

Official opening session brings together ministers and highlights the reach of the Caravan

The official opening of the Federative Caravan in Alagoas took place in the afternoon, after public services had begun in the morning. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, who was together with the Minister of Transportation, Renan Filho, from Alagoas; the Minister for Women, Márcia Lopes; the Minister of Social Security, Wolney Queiroz; and the Minister of Tourism, Gustavo Feliciano. The opening panel also included other representatives of the Federal Government, judicial authorities, as well as political and institutional leaders. The Governor of Alagoas, Paulo Dantas, also participated in the ceremony.

In her speech, the Minister highlighted that the Federative Caravan originated as a challenge proposed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which was readily accepted by his team. According to her, the initiative has already traveled through almost 20 Brazilian states, consolidating itself as an important instrument for bringing the Federal Government and municipalities closer together. Ms. Hoffmann also emphasized that, although the initial goal was to take the Caravan to all states of the federation this year, an objective she described as challenging, the results achieved so far have been quite positive. "We are very satisfied with the results of the Caravan, with the contacts established and with the services being offered to the population," she stated.

The Federative Caravan is an initiative of the Federal Government that brings together more than 30 ministries, autonomous agencies and federal bodies, with the goal of expanding access to services, programs and information aimed at states and municipalities, strengthening institutional integration and support for the implementation of public policies.

The superintendent of IBGE in Alagoas, Alcides Tenorio Junior, believes that participation in the event reinforces the Institute's role in supporting public management. “Here at the Caravan, we were able to show, in practice, how the information produced by the IBGE can support decisions and contribute to development,” highlighted the superintendent.

Service at the IBGE stand is provided directly, without the need for scheduling, throughout the two days of the event, until the early afternoon of this Friday (27).
