2022 Census

IBGE will release, in Campinas (SP), results of the 2022 Census: Indigenous Ethnicities and Languages

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will release in São Paulo, on October 24, at 10 am, the results of the "2022 Population Census: Indigenous Ethnicities and Languages ​​– Main Sociodemographic Characteristics – Population Results". The press conference will be held at the Milton Santos Auditorium of the Institute of Geosciences, at Unicamp. 

The release will update the approach of the ethnolinguistic diversity of Indigenous peoples living in Brazil and will also present a set of sociodemographic data on the different ethnicities, peoples, and Indigenous groups identified in the 2022 Population Census. The data will be available for Major Regions, States, Municipalities, the Legal Amazon, and Indigenous Lands, and some also by Federal Units. 

The release will also be streamed on the Institute's social media channels and on the Digital IBGE channel. Results can be accessed on the IIBGE website and on platforms such as SIDRA, and the Census Overview and the Interative Geographic Platform (PGI), where they can be viewed as interactive maps.

On the same day, the Institute will organize a workshop for Indigenous students and researchers

Following the event, the IBGE will hold the workshop "Indigenous Peoples in the 2022 Census: Potentialities in Data Use and Visualization," aimed primarily at Indigenous researchers, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. To receive more participants, two classes with the same content will be offered. 

Na oficina, que é gratuita, serão apresentados, aspectos importantes da pesquisa, suas potencialidades e ferramentas para acesso aos dados sobre povos indígenas no Brasil. Entre os temas abordados estão as novidades do Censo 2022, formas de acesso aos resultados e atividades práticas. As inscrições podem ser feitas pela Loja IBGE

The free workshop will present important aspects of the survey, its potential, and tools for accessing data on Indigenous peoples in Brazil. Topics approached include new developments in the 2022 Census, ways to access results, and practical activities. Registration is available through the IBGE Shop.

Tools such as the 2022 Census Overview, the Interactive Geographic Platform (PGI), and the IBGE Automatic Recovery System (SIDRA) will also be presented. The workshop will include other topics already announced and prospects for coming releases.
