WG 7 of the Digital Era Conference will discuss challenges and opportunities in public planning

Renowned managers and specialists in public planning will discuss, on July 30, in Rio de no Rio de Janeiro, from 2 to 5 pm, the risks and opportunities faced by the areas of planning of the Brazilian in a digital scenario in constant Evolution, in Working Group 7, one of the activities in the National Conference of Data producers and Users, organized by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The Conference will be held at the State university of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), between July 29 and August 2, 2024.
The Secretary of Planning in the State of Pernambuco, Fabrício Marques Santos, the Secretary of Planning of Sergipe, Júlio César Monzu Filgueira, and the president of the IBGE, Márcio Pochmann, will lead WG7 called " Risks and opportunities for public planning in the Digital Era."
Managers work with more and more complex budgets and increasing expenditures in the technology area, involving the acquisition of services and software, with data servers and information flow in foreign storage structures It is critical to discuss the creation of an integrated planning model of geosciences, statistics and data, the SINGED, an IBGE proposal that underpins this conference.
This integrated model will favor the discussion about management, with an impact on the use of resources, and on the reduction of governance costs, thus fostering intelligence and speed in the access to information, as well as in the creation, implementation, monitoring and assessment of public policies in the Digital Era.

According to the Secretary of Planning, Management and Regional Development of the State of Pernambuco, Fabrício Santos, “he IBGE discusses a very encompassing topic that is essential for national growth. The discussion about the risks and opportunities of public planning in the digital era must be faced as soon as possible. That includes not only the benefits of advances and innovations brought about by the digital era in order to serve citizens in a more economical way, but also the high costs for the construction of a digital infrastructure and cybersecurity so that we can adapt to this new format in the digital era.”
Digital Era Conference
The National Conference of Data Producers and Users, established in the past as a historical IBGE conference, as CONFEST/CONFEGE, has the objective of discussing risks and opportunities arising from the current Digital Era Governance, and address the consolidation of the National System of Geosciences, Statistics and Data (SINGED). Throughout the five days of event, more than 2 thousand participants from various segments of Brazilian civil society are expected, as well as more than 500 technicians and specialists in six thematic tables and 25 working groups.
