*Seasonally-Adjsuted Series

In April 2026, the 0.7% increase in national industrial production, compared to the preceding month and in the seasonally adjusted series, was followed by ten of the fifteen surveyed locations. Bahia (3.0%), Ceará (2.3%), Espírito Santo (2.1%), and Minas Gerais (2.1%) recorded the largest advances, with the first marking its fourth consecutive month of growth and accumulating 11.0% in this period; the second eliminating the 1.2% decline recorded in the previous month; the third accumulating 19.3% in three consecutive months of production expansion; and the last returning to growth after declining in March (-1.3%) and February (-0.2%) of 2026.

Santa Catarina (1.7%), Goiás (1.7%), Rio de Janeiro (1.5%), the Northeast Region (1.4%), São Paulo (0.9%), and Paraná (0.8%) completed the set of locations with positive rates in April. On the other hand, Mato Grosso (-5.2%), Pará (-5.0%) and Pernambuco (-3.6%) showed the most intense declines, with the first eliminating the 3.9% increase seen last March; the second interrupting three consecutive months of growth in production, a period in which it accumulated a gain of 17.1%; and the third intensifying the 2.3% drop recorded in the previous month. Rio Grande do Sul (-1.6%) and Amazonas (-0.8%) also showed negative results in April 2026.

In the seasonally adjusted series, the quarterly moving average for industry was 0.7% in the quarter ending in April 2026, compared to the previous month, maintaining the upward trajectory that began in December 2025. Thirteen of the fifteen surveyed locations showed positive rates in the month, with Espírito Santo (5.8%), Rio Grande do Sul (2.5%), Bahia (2.0%), Goiás (1.9%), Rio de Janeiro (1.6%), Santa Catarina (1.3%) and Ceará (1.3%) standing out. On the other hand, there were declines in Pernambuco (-2.0%) and Mato Grosso (-1.0%).

Compared to the same month of the previous year, industry grew 2.7% in April 2026, with positive rates in twelve of the eighteen surveyed locations. It is worth mentioning that April 2026 (20 days) had the same number of working days as the same month of the previous year (20). Espírito Santo (32.9%) and Rio de Janeiro (10.1%) recorded double-digit advances, the sharpest in this month, driven mainly by positive performance in mining and quarrying industries (crude petroleum, pelletized or sintered iron ores, and natural gas) in the first location; and in mining and quarrying industries (crude petroleum and natural gas) and coke, petroleum products, and biofuels (liquefied petroleum gas, naphtha, aviation kerosene, and fuel oils) in the second.

Goiás (6.2%), Rio Grande do Sul (5.3%), Minas Gerais (3.7%), and Mato Grosso do Sul (3.6%) also registered growth above the national average (2.7%), while Mato Grosso (1.5%), São Paulo (1.4%), Paraná (1.1%), Bahia (1.0%), Santa Catarina (0.4%), and the Northeast Region (0.4%) completed the set of locations with production growth in April 2026.

On the other hand, Rio Grande do Norte (-13.6%) recorded a double-digit decline, the highest in April 2026, largely pressured by the activity of coke, petroleum products, and biofuels (diesel fuel). Maranhão (-5.4%), Amazonas (-4.2%), Pernambuco (-3.8%), Pará (-2.8%), and Ceará (-0.4%) registered the other negative results in the monthly index for April 2026.

In the year-to-date index, compared to the same period of the previous year, the industrial sector showed an expansion of 1.7%, with positive results in ten of the eighteen locations surveyed. Espírito Santo (25.3%) and Pernambuco (19.7%) recorded double-digit advances, the sharpest ones, driven largely by mining and quarrying industries (crude petroleum, iron ore pellets or sintered and natural gas) in the first location; and coke, petroleum products and biofuels (diesel fuel, liquefied petroleum gas and fuel oils) in the second.

Mato Grosso do Sul (8.0%), Rio de Janeiro (7.3%), Mato Grosso (4.2%), Rio Grande do Sul (3.3%), the Northeast Region (2.0%), and Minas Gerais (1.8%) also registered more intense advances than the national average (1.7%), while Goiás (1.1%) and Pará (0.4%) completed the set of locations with growth.

On the other hand, Rio Grande do Norte (-17.9%) showed a more intense decline, mainly pressured by the negative performance in the coke, petroleum products, and biofuels (diesel fuel) sector. Bahia (-4.6%), Maranhão (-4.5%), Ceará (-4.4%), Amazonas (-3.5%), Santa Catarina (-2.8%), Paraná (-1.1%), and São Paulo (-0.4%) also showed negative results in the accumulated index for the period January-April 2026.

Comparing the last four months of 2025 with the period January-April 2026, both comparisons against the same period of 2025, there were increases in nine of the eighteen locations surveyed, following the movement of the national total, which went from 0.0% to 1.7%. Mato Grosso do Sul (from -13.2% to 8.0%), Pernambuco (from 3.3% to 19.7%), M

Mato Grosso (from -6.4% to 4.2%), Pará (from -6.2% to 0.4%), São Paulo (from -3.5% to -0.4%), and Espírito Santo (from 22.9% to 25.3%) showed the largest gains, while Rio Grande do Norte (from -3.1% to -17.9%), Amazonas (from 2.2% to -3.5%), Ceará (from 0.5% to -4.4%), Santa Catarina (from 0.9% to -2.8%), Bahia (from -1.1% to -4.6%), and Goiás (from 4.5% to 1.1%) recorded the main losses between the two periods.

The cumulative figure for the last twelve months, advancing 0.7% in April 2026, remained positive and registered a slight increase in pace compared to March (0.4%) and February 2026 (0.3%). Only seven of the eighteen locations surveyed registered positive rates in April 2026, but twelve showed greater dynamism compared to last March. Espírito Santo (from 18.6% to 21.9%), Mato Grosso do Sul (from -10.8% to -9.6%), Rio Grande do Sul (from 2.7% to 3.9%), Rio de Janeiro (from 6.3% to 6.9%), São Paulo (from -3.0% to -2.5%) and Ceará (from -1.6% to -1.2%) recorded the largest gains, while Pará (from 0.0% to -1.7%), Amazonas (from 0.0% to -0.7%) and Maranhão (from -4.2% to -4.6%) showed the main losses between the two periods.
