With more than 100 activities, IBGE Conference in Bahia extends registration period for panels, workshops and thematic groups

Free registration is open up to November 27, by means of a form available on the Conference page, on the IBGE Portal (https://eventos.ibge.gov.br/conferencia-soberania-nacional/inicio).
The conference will take place on December 3-5, in Salvador, capital of the state of Bahia, at the facilities of SENAI Cimatec and SESI, located at Av. Orlando Gomes, 1845 – Piatã.
Organized by the IBGE, with support from the Bahia State Government, of the Federation of Industries in the State of Bahia (FIEB), of Senai Cimatec, of the UN Development Program (PNUD) and of the Union of Municipalities of Bahia (UPB), the National Conference of Data Producers and Users (CONFEST/CONFEGE) has two weeks before the end of the registration period, with half of the activities (panels, thematic group discussions and workshops) no longer available. Besides this schedule, the conference will have a specific program for December 1 and 2, with an event aimed at the preparation of the pre-test for the coming Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Aquaculture and also private meetings between the IBGE and local, national and international partners.
The conference and its international agenda
The Mercosus Specialized Meeting on Statistics (REES) will be held during the conference in Salvador and is part of the official agenda of Mercosur, currently presided by Brazil. Statistics officials from NSO in Argentian, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay will meet on this occasion.
Also part of the program is the Amazon Biome panel, which will bring together representatives from statistical institutes in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, in addition to Brazil.
There will be a special agenda of activities from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Interpreting will be available during the international panels.
Participation of Brazil and of foreign countries
With more than two thousand confirmed in-person participants, including national and international guests, the conference also features open panels, thematic groups, and workshops—especially activities organized with local partners in the state, focusing on the debate of strategic themes of interest to the state of Bahia.
Who can participate?
The conference is open to all data producers and users, authorities, public and private managers, researchers, scholars, students, professors, and society in general.
Opening and Closing
The conference organizers advise that participants wishing to attend the opening and closing ceremonies in person must register.
Registration is necessary as soon as possible, because both venues are nearly at full capacity.
For the first time in Bahia
The conference will take place on December 3-5 in Salvador (BA), at SENAI Cimatec and SESI, located on Av. Orlando Gomes, 1845 – Piatã.
For the first time, the most important IBGE conference — organized since 1968 — will be held outside of Rio de Janeiro, at a time when Brazil and the world are undergoing a shift in the foundations of innovation.
This resumption is part of a series of cross-cutting actions to reposition IBGE as a protagonist in the governance of geosciences and statistics, as well as its interface with the challenges faced by the State and the private sector in the search for official historical and current information capable of anticipating the future.
