IBGE announces international schedule of CONFEST/CONFEGE in Bahia

The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) invites you to the press conference announcing the international schedule of the National Conference of Data Producers and Users (CONFEST/CONFEGE), which will be held this Wednesday, October 15, at 10 am, with online transmission by IBGE Digital (www.ibge.gov.br).
The event will feature the participation of Marcio Pochmann, President of the IBGE; Andrea Diniz da Silva, head of IBGE´s International Relations; Betina Ferras Barbosa, coordinator of the Human Development Unit (UDH) of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP); and representing the Secretary of Planning of the Government of Bahia, Ranieri Muricy Barreto, Superintendent of Strategic Planning.

Major national statistics conference
With support from the Federation of Industries of the State of Bahia (FIEB) and the Government of the State of Bahia, the National Conference of Data Producers and Users (CONFEST/CONFEGE) will have as its theme "A proposal for a General Statistical and Geographical Information Plan (PGIEG) for the Development of Brazil in the Digital Era, in the period between 2026 and 2030".
CONFEST/CONFEGE, which will take place from December 3 to 5, 2025, in Salvador (BA), marks the resumption of the Brazilian major national statistics and geosciences conference — and, for the first time, it will be held outside Rio de Janeiro. The meeting will bring together representatives of national and international institutions, experts, public managers and users of official information, with the aim of supporting the General Statistical and Geographic Information Plan (PGIEG) 2026–2030, which will guide the production and integration of strategic data for the development of Brazil.
During the announcement, the main panels, speakers and countries participating in the international program will be presented, as well as details about the thematic axes of the event, which will address data governance and sovereignty, technological innovation, interoperability and integration of information sources.
