ENCE offers courses in Demography

Registration is open for two courses in the field of Demography, offered by ENCE/IBGE: Population Studies and Fertility and Mortality. These are free, distance learning and self-instructional courses open to general public participation, and provide attendance certificates. One can enroll at https://ence.ibge.gov.br/index.php/portal-treinamento/cursos-abertos-ao-publico.
Registration for Population Studies will be open until July 25, and the deadline for conclusion of the course is August 24. Students will learn basic concepts about the composition, structure and dynamics of human populations, with a special focus on the Brazilian reality.
Registration for Fertility and Mortality will be open until July 25 and the deadline for conclusion of the course is August 31; There, students will learn how to interpret simple rates and specific ones of demographic components, besides sources of public data and measurement tecniques. This course is indicated as a sequence to the Population Studies one.
The two courses have been developed by the National School of Statistical Sciences (ENCE), academic arm of the IBGE for higher education, in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UN agency that works in the formulation and monitoring of policies and programs on population and development.
