Youngsters and adults attempt overcoming illiteracy: watch the video

Illiteracy has been investigated since the first census carried out in Brazil, in 1872, still in the Empire. According to the most recent data from the 2022 Census, 7.0% of the Brazilian population over 15 years don´t know reading nor writing. It is a contingent with more than 11.4 million persons.
In the week which the Student Day is celebrated (August 11), the IBGE News Agency releases an audiovisual story showing the desires of youngsters and adults who return to school looking for the first letters.
