Construction costs increase 0.43% in October

The National Cost of Civil Construction (Sinapi), released today by the IBGE, recorded an increase of 0.43% in October, a result below the 0.45% of September. The cumulative index in the year, in October, is 3.93%.
In terms of construction material, the cumulative index is 5.45%; workforce recorded 2.36%. Nevertheless, in comparison with the figures last year, the current scenario is different. In October 2017, worforce had recorded 4.65% in the year, and material, 1.73%.
“Differently from what we saw regarding the cumulative index in the year of last October, this year construction material have had greater relevance to the index. That does not mean there has been deflation of manpower, since there have been positive changes in the two bases for calulation”, says Augusto Oliveira, manager of the survey.
In absolute figures, the national cost of construction, by suqare meter, which ended September at R$ 1,103.98, increased to R$ 1,108.75 in October, being R$ 574.70 relative to material and R$ 534.05, to workforce.
