The Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) decreased (-0.23%) and stood below the 0.31% result of May. This is the lowest rate for the month of June since the beginning of the Real plan and the first negative monthly result for any month since June 2006 (-0.21%). This was the lowest IPCA rate since August 1998, when the rate reached -0.51%.

As a result, the first semester of the year closed at 1.18%, much lower than the 4.42% recorded in the same period a year ago. Considering the first semesters of the year, it is the smallest result of the series. In relation to the last 12 months, the index went to 3.00%, below the rate of 3.60% relative to the previous 12 months.

In June 2016, the IPCA was 0.35%.
