The National Index of Civil Construction (Sinapi), released today (6) by the IBGE, rose 1.71% in October, the highest increase of the year, and was 0.27 percentage points above the rate of September (1.44%). From January to October, the index accumulates an increase of 6.13% and in the last 12 months the increase reaches 6.48%.

The increase in costs was influenced by the share of materials, which grew 3.17% with a general increase in several products, accelerating the rises already seen in July (0.48%), August (1.60%) and September (2, 55%).

“Materials had a considerable influence on the monthly rate of 1.71%. In October, of the five products with the highest increases, three belonged to the rebar group - wires and steel bars - the others were ceramic blocks/tiles. These two groups registered national average changes of 9.06% and 7.62% respectively. Cement and metal frames also showed significant cumulative changes, with national averages of 21.65% and 21.89% respectively ”, reports survey manager Augusto Oliveira.

Workforce has remained stable and registered a rate of 0.04%, decelerating by 0.16 pp in relation to the previous month (0.20%) and 0.07 pp when compared to the October rate of 2019 (0.11%).

“In workforce, there was a cumulative figure from January to October of 1.89%, and in 12 months, 2.81%. Monthly workforce rates are close to stability, higher changes are registered when collective agreements are approved in the states”, analyzes Mr. Oliveira.

The national cost of construction, per square meter, which closed at R$ 1,209.02 in September, increased to R$ 1,229.72 in October, of which R$ 666.03 are related to materials and R$ 644.38 to workforce.
