A production that is still recent, but already consolidated in quality and diversity, sets the pace of rural activities in Viamão (RS), where different productive initiatives highlight the dynamism of the countryside during the second pilot test of the 12th Census of Agriculture, Forestry and Aquaculture, which continues this Wednesday (13).
One of the highlights of the visit was the Pontal das Oliveiras establishment, which celebrated, in February this year, the harvest of its first olive crop. Altogether, there were four tonnes of this fruit, which resulted in the extraction of approximately 1,600 liters of olive oil. Production, which began just over six years ago, currently includes around 4,500 olive trees distributed over an area of 17 hectares. The project is part of the set of establishments selected for this second stage.
During the visit, the team recorded aerial images of the property and spoke with producer Denise Lima Aguiar, who detailed the production process and the challenges of olive tree cultivation in the region.
Still in the municipality, the team visited an area dedicated to rice and soybean production, where images of the silos and agricultural structure were captured, including drone recordings. On site, the technical coordinator of the Census of Agriculture in Viamão, Fernanda Assaife. She highlighted the main characteristics of agricultural production in the municipality, marked by the diversity of crops and the presence of large and medium-sized producers, in addition to emphasizing the importance of statistical surveys for the planning and development of the sector.
