Civil construction costs increases 0.19% in October

The National Index of Construction (Sinapi), released today by the IBGE, grew 0.19% in October, after standing at 0.37% in September. The share of the labor force presented the third lowest rate of the year, 0.11%. The cost of materials increased 0.25%, remaining stable in relation to the previous month (0.27%), but lower if compared to the 0.69% result in October 2018.
The values per square meter, which in September closed at R$1,152.87, increased to R$1,155.01, of which R$605.40 related to materials and R$549.61 to workforce.
“In October we had stability in the share of materials and highs due to wage increase for construction workers in the states of Roraima and Pará, which have less weight in the national calculation,” explains the survey manager, Mr. Augusto Oliveira.
Influenced by the salary adjustments resulting from collective bargaining agreements, the North Region presented the largest change in October, 0.97%. The other regions recorded the following results: -0.01% (Northeast), 0.09% (Southeast), 0.25% (South), and 0.37% (Central-West).
