Labor force drives high of 0.37% in the civil construction costs in September

Released today by the IBGE, the National Index of Civil Construction - Sinapi rose 0.37% in September. Construction costs were driven by the labor force share, which, with 0.47%, recorded the biggest high for the months of September since 2014. Even so, the result stood 0.07 percentage points (pp) below the rate of August (0.44%).

"This month, highs in the wages of the professional categories of the civil construction in Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio de Janeiro and Amazonas. In the previous years, three states did not implement a bargain agreement implemented in September, that is why the highs were so significant", said the manager of the survey, Augusto Oliveira.

The share of materials changed 0.27%, with a significant decrease of 0.45 pp over the previous month (0.72%) and of 0.41 pp over September 2018 (0.68%). "The decrease in materials was widespread, but it was not possible to identify, by means of the survey, if there was influence of some specific segment", said Augusto.

The national cost of construction per square meter stood at R$1,152.87 in September, being R$603.87 relative to materials and R$549.00 to labor force. In 12 months, the cumulative index was 4.42%, and, in the year, in 3.49%. In September 2018, the index was 0.45%.
