In order to meet the electoral law, the IBGE will not communicate any news regularly produced by the institution as of tomorrow, July 7. As a result, the IBGE News Agency will be updated only in the area destined to the press, since the relationship with the media has no restrictions during the electoral period.

The Retratos magazine and the IBGE Minute program, the latter broadcast on the National Radio Network, will only return after October 28, in the case of a second round. The institution decided also to put its profiles on the social media on hold, since it is impossible to monitor the commentaries.

The IBGE decision is based on the Normative Ruling no. 1/2018 of the Special Secretariat of Communication - SECOM of the Federal Administration, whose article 30 seals off the communication and exhibition of any news from offices and entities belonging to the Communication System of the Federal Executive Power - SICOM in their digital properties. The ban should be followed up to October 28, in the case of a second round.
