National Index of Civil Construction rises 0.34% in April

The National Index of Civil Construction - Sinapi changed 0.34% in April, 0.18 percentage points (p.p.) below the rate in the previous month, which had registered 0.52%.
The index increased 0.08 p.p. compared with April 2018 (0.26%).
The cumulative rate in 12 months stayed at 4.95%, slightly below the index of 4.86% recorded in the immediately previous 12 months. The cumulative rise in the year stood at 1.50%.

The national cost of construction, by square meter, changed to R$1,130.67 in April, being R$590.15 relative to materials and R$540.52, to labor force. In March, the national cost of the sector had been R$1,126.82.
The costs of the materials increased 0.33%, standing 0.46 p.p. below the result of the previous month (0.79%). The change increased 0.19 p.p. in relation to April 2018 (0.14%). Materials accrued 1.87% in the year and 6.50% over the last 12 months.
The rate of labor force rose once again and stayed at 0.36%, 0.13 p.p. over March. The rate stood at the same level compared with April 2018 (0.37%). Labor force accrued 1.12% in the year and 3.35% in 12 months.
North is the region with the highest rise in costs
Having changed 0.53%, the North registered the highest rise in the cost of civil construction among the Major Regions, especially the significant increase in labor force in Amapá. The other regions also rose with the following results: 0.46% in the Northeast, 0.25% in the Southeast, 0.33% in the South and 0.20% in the Central-West.
The regional costs per square meter were R$1,135.07 in the North, R$1,050.49 in the Northeast, R$1,180.74 in the Southeast, R$1,175.96 in the South and R$1,131.69 in the Central-West.
Maranhão records highest cost among states
Influenced by the rise in the labor force, Maranhão reported the biggest increase in the construction costs among the states (2.75%). It was followed by Amapá (1.81%), also involved with increasing expenses with professionals.
