National index of Civil Construction changes 0.11% in May

Calculated by the IBGE, the National Index of Civil Construction - Sinapi changed 0.11% in May, standing 0.23 percentage points (p.p.) below the rate of April (0.34%). The cumulative index in 12 months stayed at 4.49%, below the rate of 4.95% registered in the 12 immediately previous months. In May 2018, the index was 0.55%. The national cost of construction, per square meter, which in April closed at R$1,130.67, increased to R$1,131.89 in May, of which R$592.48 were relative to material, and R$539.41 referred to labor force.

The parcel of material changed 0.39%, with a rise of 0.06 p.p. over the previous month (0.33%) and of 0.12 p.p. over May 2018 (0.27%).

Having changed -0.21%, the parcel of labor force fell 0.57 p.p. over the previous month (0.36%) and 1.07 p.p. over May 2018 (0.86%).

From January to May, the cumulative indexes were of 2.27% (material) and 0.91% (labor force), but over the last twelve months, they stayed at 6.63% (material) and 2.25% (labor force).

 Central-West Region registers lowest monthly change

Having recorded negative rates in all the states, the Central-West Region posted the lowest regional change in May, -0.13%. The other regions registered the following results: 0.23% (Northeast), 0.23% (North), 0.03% (Southeast) and 0.16% (South).

The regional costs, per square meter, were: R$1,137.65 (North); R$1,052.90 (Northeast); R$1,181.12 (Southeast); R$1,177.85 (South) and R$1,130.22 (Central-West).

 Acre records highest rise

Having capture a rise in the parcel of material, Acre (0.56%) was the state that recorded the highest monthly change.
