IBGE releases Political Map of Brazil

The IBGE releases today the 2016 edition of the Political Map of Brazil in the 1:5,000,000 scale (where 1 cm = 50 km). It is a cartographic representation of the whole Brazilian territory, including state and international borders, hydrographic features, extreme points, major localities pertaining to this scale, road and railway systems and major edifications.

Produced from the continuous cartographic database of Brazil, which uses the 1:1,000,000 scale (where 1 cm = 10 km), this map is the reference for the production of other maps in a number of the IBGE publications, like the School Geographic Atlas, Atlas of the 2010 Population Census, Brazilian Statistical Yearbook and Brazil in Figures, among others.
