Services sector up 0.7% from June to July

The volume of services increased 0.7% from June to July, in the seasonally adjusted series, after having decreased 0.2% in June and being 0.2% up in May. In the series without adjustment, there was decrease (-4.5%) versus July 2015, the biggest decline for this month since the beginning of the PMS time series, in January 2012. The cumulative rate in the year was -4.8% and that of the previous 12 months, -4.9%. The complete publication is available here.

In the series without seasonal adjustment, in relation to June 2016, there was increase in the activities of Services rendered to families(3.2%); Other services (1.9%) and Professional, administrative and complementary services (0.3%). Information and communication services did not record any changes (0.0%) and Transportation, auxiliary services for transportation and mailing decreased (-0.3%).The special aggregate of Tourism activities cincreased 0.7%.

The nominal revenue of July increased 1.2% versus that of June, in the seasonally-adjusted series, and the series without adjustment was 0.3%, in relation to the same month in 2015. The cumulative rate in the year was 0.2%, and in 12 months, 0.1%.

In the seasonally-adjusted series, eight of the 27 FUs had positive volume changes

The seasonally adjusted regional results of July show the main positive volume changes took place in Mato Grosso (3.8%), Pernambuco (2.1%) and São Paulo (1.9%). The most significant negative changes were those of Alagoas (-4.7%), Acre (-3.7%) and Bahia (-3.6%).

As for the results without adjustment, versus the same month in 2015, Roraima was the only Federation Unit with a positive change (4.1%). The negative changes came from Rondônia (-14,.%), Amazonas (-12.5%) and Amapá (-121%).

In the seasonally adjusted series, tourism activities rise in 6 of the 12 FUs surveyed

In regional terms, the analysis of seasonally-adjusted volume results of Tourism activities, by selected Federation Units (FUs). presentes the following positive changes, in decreasing order: Santa Catarina (2.0%), Goiás (1.6%), São Paulo (1.2%), Rio de Janeiro (1.1%), Bahia (0.5%) and Pernambuco (0.3%). AThe negative changes came from Rio Grande do Sul (-3.0%), Paraná (-1.9%), Ceará (-1.8%), Minas Gerais (-1.6%), Espírito Santo (-1,4%) and Federal District (-0.8%).

Versus the same month a year ago, without seasonal adjustment, positive changes came from Goiás (5.4%), São Paulo (4.9%) and Pernambuco (4.1%). The negative changes were: Minas Gerais (-9.5%), Bahia (-7.5%), Ceará (-4.9%), Santa Catarina (-4.2%), Espírito Santo (-3.1%), Rio Grande do Sul (-2.4%), Paraná (-2.3%), Rio de Janeiro (-2.0%) and Distrito Federal (-1.9%).
