Services Sector: 0.1% increase from October to November

In November 2016, the services sector increased 0.1% in comparison with the October figure (seasonally-adjusted series), after recording increase of 2.3% in October and of 0.4% in September. In comparison with November 2015, the sector recorded a decrease of 4.6%. With these results, the cumulative rates in both the 11 months of 2016 and in the last 12 months stayed at -5.0%.

Versus October 2016, all the segments recorded increases by activity: Other services (3.3%); Transportation, support activities for transportation and mailing (2.1%); Information and communication services (1.0%); Professional, administrative and complementary services (0.8%) e Services rendered to families (0.2%). The special aggregate of Tourism activities grew 0.5%.

The nominal revenue of November recorded positive changes of 0.1% in relation to October (seasonally adjusted series) and also in comparison with the same month a year before. The cumulative rate in the year stood at 0.0% and, in 12 months, at 0.1%.

In terms of composition of the overaal volume rate, in comparison with November 2015 figures (series without adjustment), the contributions of the following segments were the following: Transportation, support activities for transportation and mailing, , with -2.4 pp; Information and communication services, , com -1.2 pp; Professional, administrative and complementary services, , with -0.7 pp; Services rendered to families, with -0.3 pp and Other services, with 0.0 pp.

Volume of services of Bahia, Amazonas and Mato Grosso records bigges increases versus October figures

Regarding regional results of the sector in November versus October figures, 15 Federation Units recorded increase and 12, decrease. The biggest increases in volume were those of Bahia (5.2%), Amazonas (4.6%) and Mato Grosso (2.6%). The biggest decreases came from Tocantins (-15.6%), Rondônia (-2.8%) and Santa Catarina (-2.2%).

In comparison with November 2015 (seasonally adjusted series), all the Federation Units recorded decrease, except the Federal District, with 0.0%. Mato Grosso (-33.1%), Rondônia (-22.1%) and Tocantins (-19.6%) recorded the biggest decreases.

Tourism activities: Bahia records biggest change between October and November

For the index of tourism activities, among the selected Federation Units, in comparison with october, there were increases in Bahia (5.0%), Espírito Santo (3.8%), Santa Catarina (2.7%), Ceará (2.4%), Goiás, Rio Grande do Sul and Minas Gerais (all of them with 2.0%) and Paraná (1.4%). Rio de Janeiro did not record any change (0.0%) and Pernambuco (-4.0%), São Paulo (-0.4%) and the Federal District (-0.1%) recorded decreases.

Versus November 2015 (seasonally adjusted series), the positive changes were: Pernambuco (3.8%), São Paulo (3.5%), Paraná (1.8%) and Santa Catarina (0.4%). And the negative ones: Federal District (-12.8%), Rio de Janeiro (-10.8%), Minas Gerais (-10.4%), Espírito Santo (-7.9%), Ceará (-4.3%), Rio Grande do Sul (-2.9%), Goiás (-1.7%) and Bahia (-0.9%).
