Holding steady over September (0.09%) and August (0.08%), the Extended National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15) stood at 0.09% in October. It is the lowest result for an October since 1998, when the rate was of 0.01%. In the year, the IPCA-15 accumulated a high of 2.69% and, in 12 months, of 2.72%, according to the results the IBGE disclosed today.

Expenses with health and personal care are making the Brazilians spend more money. The group had the biggest change (0.85%) and the highest impact (0.10 percentage points) among the nine groups surveyed, especially because the items of personal hygiene and pharmaceuticals, with increase of 2.35% and 0.54%, respectively.

On the other hand, the group food and beverages had deflation (-0.25%) resulting from the 0.38% drop in the prices of food at home. The greatest negative rates come from tubers, roots and vegetables, which have been falling in the last months, mainly onions (-17.65%), potatoes (-14.00%) and tomatoes (-6.10%). Conversely, meat prices were up 0.59%, after a 0.38% drop in September.

The housing group presented the second biggest negative change in the monthly index, influenced by the decrease in the electricity prices (-1.43%) due to changes in the tariff flags. In September, the red flag leveraged the index's high, which was offset in October with the change to the yellow flag.

Compared to the previous month, the group transportation speeded up, from 0.09% to 0.35%, due to gasoline prices, which had been slightly down in September (-0.06%) and registered a high of 0.76% in October. Diesel fuel, despite the greatest high (3.33%), does not have the same influence in the group, as ethanol (0.52%) and natural gas (0.23%). Fuel inflation stood at 0.77%.
