Inflation forecast in August stays at 0.08%, the lowest index for the month since 2010

The Extended National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15) rose 0.08% in August, close to July's index (0.09%). This is the lowest rate for the month since 2010, when the index stood at -0.05%.
 
 
 
 
Again, the price fall in fuels (-1.70%) exerted an impact in the Trasportation group (-0.78%), taking the general index down. There were also the drops in airfares (-15.57%), Food and Beverages (-0.17%) and Health and Personal Care (-0.32%).
 
On the other hand, the major positive influence came from Housing (1.42%), with a highlihgt to electricity (4.91%), which recorded its seventh consecutive monthly high. The tariff flag went from yellow (R$1.50 for each 100 kilowatt/hour) to red (R$4.00), leveraging rises in all areas surveyed. There were also increases in bottled gas (0.20%) and in water and sewage (1.01%).
 
The drop recorded in the Food and Beverage group (-0.17%) was especially due to food at home, which fell by 0.45%. The ain negative highlihgts in the group were tomatoes (-14.79%), potatoes (-15.09%), green vegetables (-6.26%) and carioca beans (-5.61%).
