Costs of civil construction rise 0.11% in May, lowest rate since November 2016

Released today by the IBGE, the National Index of Civil Construction - Sinapi rose 0.11% in May, a result below the rate of 0.34% in April. This was the lowest rate since November 2016, when it stayed at 0.10%.
According to Augusto Oliveira, analyst of the survey, the parcel relative to labor force, which dropped 0.21%, influenced the national index: "historically, the collective work agreements take place in May, though they were only captured in the state of Acre in 2019".
On the other hand, Oliveira highlights that in the Central-West, which recorded the lowest percentage change (-0.13%), the major influence came from the parcel of material: "all the states of the region posted a drop in the cost of material. Important segments, like those of wood and cement, registered drops or stayed stable in the whole Central-West", explains him.
In national terms, the average cost of construction was R$1,131.89 in May, being R$592.48 relative to material and R$539.41, to labor force. In relation to April, labor force fell 0.21%, whereas material rose 0.39%.
