The inflation forecast for May was 0.14%, 0.07 percentage points below the April result (0.21%). Transporation (-0.35%), Household articles (-0.11%) and Food and beverages (-0.05%) were the groups that most influenced the rate. The information is from the Extended National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15), released today by IBGE.
In the case of transportation, despite the 0.81% increase in gasoline, the drop in the prices of ethanol (-5.17%) and airfares (-14.94%) contributed to the negative result of the group and to the decrease in May inflation.
In May, manpower for small repairs and domestic workers changed -0.10% and 0.43%, respectively. From this edition on, the IPCA-15 will adopt a new way of including these sub-items in the calculation of the index, starting to use information from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Continuous - PNAD). These changes will also be adopted in the IPCA and INPC.
